Amazon Chime on Linux via WINE

The best choice for Amazon Chime Linux users at this time is the Chime Web app {: .alert-box}

Installing Amazon Chime in Linux was attempted unsuccessfully with WINE 4. Use a distinct Wineprefix to avoid messing up other currently working software using WINE.

Amazon Chime on Linux WINE is not currently working.

  1. Set Windows 7 under

    WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_chime WINEARCH=win32 winecfg

  2. install .NET 4.0 before .NET 4.5

    WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_chime winetricks dotnet40 corefonts

  3. install .NET 4.5. “Cancel” when it asks to repair .NET 4.0

    WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_chime winetricks --force dotnet45

  4. install Internet Explorer 8, avoiding error:

    Can’t recognize ‘ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache’ as an internal or external command, or batch script.

    WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_chime ~/winetricks ie8

  5. try to install Amazon Chime.

    WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_chime wine Chime*.exe

Seems from a casual search this involves TODO work on dotnet in WINE.

I tried in winecfg Builtin, then Native and that didn’t work either.
